Opening the Eye of the Heart

This course explores the ways that words relate to images/symbols and imagination in order to understand how poetic language moves us. We will consider the role of the poet and poetry in traditional societies on the individual and communal levels. Great visionary and mystical poets of the East and West are explored as a means to reflect on our relationship to language and imagination and the symbiosis between creativity and spirituality.
